After Surgery

After surgery, you'll be taken to a recovery room. This is also called the postanesthesia care unit (PACU). You'll stay in this room for awhile and receive care until the anesthesia wears off.

When you leave the PACU, you may go right home or be brought to a special room. In this room, you may sit in a reclining chair. Your friends and family may be able to join you. A nurse will check on you from time to time. You may be given something to drink and a light snack.

Recovering at Home
Your recovery continues at home. For the first day or two, have someone around who can help you and watch for problems. Make sure this person knows what you can and can't eat, what medications you should take, and what other instructions you were given.

"The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They went above and beyond and
should be commended."
